Why Do Affiliate Marketing Businesses Fail

Posted in affiliate marketing by admin on January 20th, 2010 | 3 Comments

I like to call affiliate marketing businesses ecommerce for the rest of us. They are a way to monetize a website that comes with high profit potential yet contain very low risk.

You don’t have to develop your own product.

You don’t have to take stock of inventory or manage a store.

You don’t handle shipping and handling.

You don’t have to handle customer services.

The best part is they can be started and operated on a shoestring budget.

Affiliate marketing businesses are perhaps the most widely adopted business model. According to a recent Forrester Research Inc survey, nearly 80% of online merchants actively use affiliate marketing. However, the sad fact is, despite its popularity and simplicity, most affiliate marketing businesses fail to make more than $500 a month.

In fact, numerous affiliates never see their first check before they throw in the towel.

E-commerce for the rest of us has become e-commerce for the best of us

Why?

The simplest answer would be majority are doing it wrong. Most affiliates run their affiliate marketing businesses wrong from the very first day of start up.

Now, affiliate marketing does produce high income earners– people who earn $140,000 or more a year and others who earn full time incomes of 50, 000 or more. However, the vast majority simply fails to earn.

Here are some of the key reasons affiliate marketing businesses fail.

1. Failure to prepare. Lack of research about the business of affiliate marketing, your niche and the affiliate program all contribute to early failure. The over excitement, and lack of knowledge, cause people to jump at anything and act before they think.

Doing feels productive. Planning doesn’t. Even if we do not know what we’re doing we feel better about ourselves when we are doing something. However, being underprepared causes the potentially successful to become unsuccessful. Curb your enthusiasm and do your planning.

-Develop a strong web concept/theme

-Select the best affiliate programs

-Get to know your competition

Yes it’s boring, but it’s better than closing up shop after a year.

2. Poor quality traffic. Most affiliates think if they build a website they will come. Not so. Having a website doesn’t mean you will receive quality traffic. I say “quality” because not all traffic is beneficial to you. You site needs quality traffic that will do more than just browse.

To become part of the top 3% of affiliate marketing businesses you want to:

-Create content that is attractive to search engines

-Track how each page performs and how each page ranks

-Analyze Click in and Click through patterns

-Use more than one traffic generation method

-Be consistent. You can’t generate constant flow of traffic with a “stop-and-go” work method.

3. Dependency on Merchants: It’s great that your merchant has taken the time to create those banners. However, most merchants stop there. They don’t offer any startup training or any new ideas for their affiliates. Tis happens with both good and bad companies.

The best way to avoid merchant dependency is to go beyond affiliate marketing. You can not expect the affiliate merchant to teach you everything; It is up to you get educated. Ignore the marketing material and learn how to do it right on your own. This is what super affiliates do.

Affiliate marketing businesses aren’t destined to fail. You can keep yours from doing so by considering the tips above.

Kamal Karna Roy (also known as Kamal K.K. Roy and Rev. Dr. Joseph Geronimo, Jr.) is a prolific pro se litigant who, since at least the early 1990s, has filed numerous lawsuits throughout the United States and its territories under the names Roy and Joseph Geronimo, Jr., as well as under the names of entities that he is affiliated with, including International Siva Consciousness & World Religions, Reforms International, Handicap Interests International, world religions group and Jungle Democracy et al.[1] Roy’s lawsuits are often brought against multiple defendants, and feature long, unconventional complaints. Roy has filed lawsuits against God, U.S. Presidents, Supreme Court Justices, fast food restaurants, foreign leaders.[2], and Wikipedia [3] [4].

Roy’s lawsuits have addressed, among many other things, actions taken by President George W. Bush, overcharging by telecommunication companies, the appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts to the Supreme Court, and "failure of democratic societies and God’s role therein."[5] In 2006 Judge Michael W. McConnell of The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit described a typical Roy complaint:

Roy, a/k/a Joseph Geronimo, Jr. filed a 115-page complaint, a 144-page amended complaint, and a 40-page second amended complaint against over sixty defendants, including among many others President Bush, God as U.S.-based divine benefactor, several government agencies, The New York Times, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In addition to pages of rambling discourse, the complaint contains numerous illegible handwritten remarks.[6]

The Tenth Circuit went on to affirm the district court’s dismissal of the complaint holding that no discernible claim was apparent from the complaint. Judge McConnell also humorously noted that the court "strongly suspect[ed] at least one defendant was not properly served."[7]

Most, if not all, of Roy’s complaints have been dismissed. A 2006 United States District Court for the District of Delaware opinion, Jungle Democracy v. U.S., describes Roy as "no stranger to litigation" and provides a partial list of Roy lawsuits that have been dismissed since 1991.[8]

Despite Roy’s lack of success in the courts, his lawsuits have been discussed in law school classrooms and in law related blogs.[9] [10]

In April 2007 Roy filed a civil rights action against, among others, CBS Broadcasting Inc., MSNBC, the United States Government, and controversial radio shock jock Don Imus.[11]

In October 2007, Roy filed a suit in the US District Court, Middle District of Fl

there is no easy way to stop all the lawsuits that really don’t mean anything, a democracy is freedom,, enjoy it while you can, its leaving soon I am afraid

Fox news signed a multi-year contract with Sarah Palin to…do what exactly?

Posted in affiliate classroom by admin on January 15th, 2010 | 14 Comments

What could she possibly contribute? She can’t even speak properly….Okay, you right wingers want proof, I know. So here you go, from her mouth to our ears: A few examples of what this ex-governor of Alaska had to contribute:

"We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. … We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation." –Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in Greensoboro, N.C., Oct. 16, 2008

or my personal favorite….

"[T]hey’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom." –Sarah Palin, getting the vice president’s constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008

I know Fox news is by far the WORST news (hate calling it that) program on the air today but to stoop so far down to this level is pathetic.

What do you all think about this?
LMFAO @ Lady Dreamon
It’s just across the border. LOL.

Despite her obvious flaws, she remains a very popular figure among Fox’s target audience. Putting her in a regular time slot will only increase her popularity/ noteriety.

It is a shrewd move on Fox’s part, in my opinion.
